Matthieu Hocquemiller

Biography

Matthieu Hocquemiller, choir writer and director.

After professional training at the Montpellier Circus Arts Center and then in dance, he worked as a performer and dancer for numerous contemporary companies: in 2004 he won the ADAMI Dance Talents.

He created the Compagnie contre poil du sens Montpellier in 2005 and then devoted himself to questions of gender, sexualities and their representations.
With Marianne Chargois, he created the two 2015 and 2016 editions of the Explicit Festival for the CDN of Montpellier/Humain trop Humain. The Ensemble created the performance “Extime” in 2016.

From 2019 to 2021, he created at Klap/Maison pour la danse de Marseille, a series of pieces in dialogue around minority journeys “Le Corps du Roi”, “Dialogue avec Shams” and “L’Ethique”. As a director, under the pseudonym Matock, he makes post-porn short films: Lamento della ninfa, Warm and L’Ethique
